Jette Hoog Antink at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
jette-rijksmuseumJette Hoog Antink’s internship in the Library Department of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, gave her a unique opportunity to create an exhibition combining seventeenth century Dutch paintings with the – mainly sixteenth century – books depicted in those paintings. Since the exhibition was held at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam Schiphol, it was relatively small-scale and this meant that Jette could experience every aspect of it. She was involved in the selection of both the paintings and the books, wrote texts for the exhibition, cooperated with the designer on the look of the exhibition and positioning of the objects. She was also consulted on decisions regarding the press (publicity) and merchandise. Jette was also present when the exhibition was actually installed in July 2008. “It was a great opportunity which allowed me to learn many new skills, establish connections with people in the field, and create a final product of which we all were very proud.” (HUM Major, class of 2008. Research Master, Kunstwetenschappen, UvA)
